Slums Eavesdown
Sat 18 April 2530, 19:14:12 — Sat Apr 18 19:14:12 2020

When you're living here, you've really hit rock bottom. These are the slums where even the Feds don't dare to tread. A part of the area consists of little huts, cobbled together from wood, metal scraps and plastic, another is little more than a tent city with make-shift tents made from tarpaulin. Dirty children scrounge for food or things they can sell, scruffy youths look for people to steal from or sell drugs to. Some people try to make an honest living, repairing things salvaged from scrap heaps or preparing simple snacks to sell in the market.

It is a spring evening. The weather is warm and raining.

Apr 18 2020 News and Rumors

Overheard in a market stall, "Yeah… they chased her down there.." A slender finger pointing off towards the slums. "Wrong sort of lot, those slum rats. Best to just leave them to die if you ask me…"

Another conversation, "Not sure what that was all about. Guys just kept screaming at her for a name. She kept saying she didn't have one. If she don't, why are they bothering her?"

"Prolly think she's lying..or know she is. You never know with that sort of lot. She's the same one what hangs around the Bat Cave all the time with the other no gooders."

"Well if you ask me," A third person chimes in, "She seemed to start getting a better head on her shoulders… but I guess they finally gave up on her…" And there's another pointed finger.

So, as rumors go and jokes start…A woman and two men run into the slums…and only the two men come back out. Silently disappearing back from wherever they came…..

+==~~~~~====~~~~====~~~~====~~~~=====~~~~=====~~~~====~~~~====~~~~====~~~~~==+

The slums are quiet, maybe too quiet. Though it's true no Fed patrol, or even loner, will come through even on a bad day, there's not much of the usual bustle about the area. Likely people were scared into their corners by the commotion that went on just a little bit ago. Somewhere among the rubble lies Chandra. She's sitting up against a wall, slumped over. There's blood on her face, her arms, and slowly seeping a stain onto her shirt. She doesn't /look/ conscious, and she's gripping something in one of her hands. It can't be bigger than her palm or something as the only thing really seen is a fist. Surely the woman has seen much better days than the one she's currently having.

Max moved quickly down the ladders, Pausing once to sniff the air again. He gets a panicked look at some point, and races on ahead so that she might have difficulty keeping up with him. Running along through the alley's he'll eventually come to the sight before him, and pause, blinking almost in disbelief. "…Chandra…"

What? He can smell trouble? Enola is puzzled by what Max is doing, but that doesn't stop her from tagging along, trying to keep up, just to see what's afoot. It seems like an adventure, right until she sees Chandra's blood all leaking onto her shirt. "Handcar!"

Chandra gives a grunt as she hears her name, and another groan when she hears her other name yelled out. Lifting her fisted hand into the air to sort of wave them off. "I-I'm fine…" Then she coughs, and ows, and shifts to try and sit up better but that only causes her to hiss out in pain. "The fuck y'all do…bring the calvary?" Asking this as she looks over, her voice is weak at best, and she doesn't say as much but she swears she sees like six people.

Max runs over to her side, and places a hand on her shoulder. "Do not move yet." He looks her over, and then carefully pulls at her shirt around the wound there. "Who did this to you?" The cavalry quetsion is ignored for now, and he frowns and adds, "We should get you to the clinic…"

"I'll get help," Enola says, and takes off running toward the market square, where she'll veer toward Main Street and bang at the clinic doors, saying that Dr. Harris' sister needs an ambulance in the alley between the pawn shop and the bookie that smells like cigars and stale pee. They have two ambulances, apparently. Will Max and Chandra still be there when one arrives?

It's definitely a knife wound, slightly small in size but deep. Chandra grunts and shakes her head. "I don't…don't know…" This much offered before Max mentions the Clinic and she shakes her head. "N-no…no clinic. I'm fine. Just…just need to lie down a moment…" Though then Enola is running off about getting help which causes Chandra to groan out again. "Max…Max take what's in my hand…hide it. Somewhere. Like a pocket or.." She coughs again and winces. "…somewhere…"

Max almost growls as she says no clinic, and moves to take what's in her hand. "I will keep it safe, and you will go to the clinic. I cannot fix this… Or I could temporarily, but it would… hurt..a lot" He tries to look into her eyes, then at some of the other wounds, making sure he was correct that the stab wound was the most immediately bad.

It's a piece of paper folded up. Anyone who looks at it would just see a random writing of letters and numbers. Chandra sets her blue gaze to Max and after a moment she grunts. "So fix it… I'm already in a fucking load of pain…" She then, regardless of him telling her not to move, tries to move - and in fact - tries to stand. Her other wounds are bad, cuts on her face and arms, and some bruises already forming but the wound on her side is definitely the worst of them all.

Max growls again as she tries to stand. "It would involve burning the wound close. It would be…exponentially worse. And would be temporary. You would still slowly bleed internally. You need the clinic Chandra. And you need to tell me who did this to you." There's a look in his eyes, a cold anger in there, also a hunger. Not the passionate hunger like she's used to seeing, more the hunger of a predator who's fixing to hunt something.

"Damnit Max…if I knew who did this I'd tell you." Chandra snaps at him while slumping back to the ground. She lets out a pained cry when this happens and then shakes her head. "Alright. Fine. I'll go to the clinic…just…" She finds his eyes then, seeing that anger in them along with that hunger. She knew what he wanted to do, and she reaches to touch his arm. "Max. I won't know until I figure out that piece of…paper…and right now…I need you here…"

Chandra is busy bleeding against the wall, and there's a Max there, pretty much trying to get her to stop moving around and bleeding more. He finally covers over her wound on her chest, pressing against it some to slow the bleeding. "I am here. I will stay here, until you are safe." He frowns, but that glint in his eye softens some as he places a hand on her shoulder. "Please, stop moving until help arrives."

Silah comes into the area, looking around. She had been stopped by a girl looking for help, while on her way home. She runs after the girl, who as soon as she points to where the emergency is, disappears again. Silah always carries a emergency kit with her, and sees Chandra propped against the wall, and rushes over. She looks around to see what she can observe, and then kneels down next to the couple. "Hey there. I'm SJ. I'm the new medic in town. What's the issue here?" All the while SJ is talking, she is digging out some gloves and basic supplies, as she spots the amount of blood coming from one of the two.

"Stab wound to left frontal abdominal… multiple.. lacerations across face and arms…" Chandra manages. Perhaps it's nice to have a doctor for a sibling. "They also might have kicked me while I was down…so there'll be major contusions on my right mid back area…" Then she looks to SJ. "This one here wants me at the clinic… what're you gonna do to get me there?" Her voice, while sounding out words, was getting weaker by the moment. Mostly from the effort it was taking to stay awake but also…blood loss has been a thing for a good quarter to half hour's worth of time now.

As Silah approaches, Max glances around them briefly, then adds, "The stab wound here is the worst I think. She will need something to slow the bleeding." He keeps pressure on it until they're ready to look it over, but otherwise holds the wound to try to slow the bleeding. Whatever was in his other hand has since disappeared, most likely the same way he gets his coin to.

SJ listens intently and then begins looking at the wound, and assesses the damage done to the abdomen as that seems to be the trouble area at the moment. SJ then turns to Max. "Do you think you can go up the street there? I believe I spotted a man with a wagon or trolley. See if we can borrow him and the moving object?" SJ looks at Chandra. "Are you allergic to anything, ma'am?" She uses her non-dirtied with blood-gloved hand to check over Chandra's face quickly, trying to keep her from losing consciousness.

Chandra falters just a little. She's been trying to stay conscious this whole time and it was a trying thing! Though she hears that question from Silah and gives a sort of half nod. "..ree…uts…" Managing just that before her eyes flutter close and then her head jerks back up again. She coughs, then tries to pass out again.

At the mention of a trolly or wagon, Max takes off down the alley, running a full sprint. He disappears around the corner. There's some brief shouting in the distance, then the sound of a wagon or trolley moving closer. Perhaps he's acquired it? One might not want to ask how…

SJ heard what sounded like Peanuts or Treenuts so she knew at least what allergies there were. She watches as Chandra tries to pass out again, and snaps her fingers in front of her eyes. "Stay with me, hon. I'm gonna give you a small drop of morphine for the pain. And some basic meds to help with the bleeding." She pulls out a dropper and vial. "Show me your tongue, hon." With compliance, she delivers two drops of a clear substance on Chandra's tongue. She hears Max come back with what looks like a cart of some sort and smiles. "Perfect. Now find some covers for it, so she doesn't get any worse? Sheets, shirts, anything? I might have something in that side pocket there(a receiving blanket). And then come help keep her conscious for me."

Chandra opens her eyes wide, trying to keep herself alert, and she complies to sticking out her tongue. A glance over as it seems Max has come back and then she shakes her head some. At this rate, she's just trying to stay awake enough to do as she's told even though sleep sounds sooo good right now. "…Max?" His name is barely a whisper on her tongue as her eyes flutter closed again.

Max frowns as Chandra seems to have trouble staying conscious. He moves over to her and looks to Silah. "I will get her in the cart. You will stay with her, I will move all of you to the clinic." As the offer of something in a pouch might help he searches and gets the blanket, and unfolds it to cover the back of the cart, then waits for Silah to agree, or at least get to a point where they can move Chandra.

Silah nods. ?let me stabilize the wound, then we can move her. We need to be gentle because of possible back injuries when we do.? she is bandaging, assessing, observing, while she speaks. Satisfied the wound is secured, she nods. ?lets move her now.?

At the mention of moving her, Max moves to carefully gather her up, though if Silah wants to help he'll share the burden. He'll move gently with her, though easily, Chandra being quite light for him apparently, as he'll help her carefully get placed in the back of the cart.

Silah moves to help move Chandra up on the cart, making sure to be as gentle as possible. As soon as Chandra is settled, SJ pack her bag quickly and climbs up next to Chandra. ?Okay we need to move her quickly, shes lost a lot of blood.?

Eavesdown Clinic Eavesdown
Sat 18 April 2530, 22:12:03 — Sat Apr 18 22:12:03 2020

At this small hospital, the medical staff is trying their best to help people with very limited means. There's a reception/triage desk for those hoping to see a doctor and a waiting area littered with plastic chairs. Posters on the wall remind people to get their regular check-ups and vaccinations.

Through a set of swinging double doors is the main, open room of the clinic. The charge desk at the center creates a gathering point for staff, where they discuss cases with each other or work on one of the two cortex terminals available. Three full exam rooms line one wall, equipped for emergency medical situations. Opposite those are a few specialized rooms: one for the part-time dentist, and another small room with equipment for ear and eye exams. There is a break room for the clinic staff, and various storage spaces. A walk-in closet with a securely locked door holds the clinic's supplies of drugs and expensive equipment. A hallway leads off to the patient ward.

It is a spring night. The weather is warm and fair.

The trip to the clinic is a quick one. Max moves quickly, the weight of the cart and its occupants not seeming to bother him as he sprints along the streets. By the time they arrive at the clinic, He's breathing hard some, though surprisingly not as winded as one would think. He moves to help Chandra out of the cart, letting Silah help as needed, or just leaving them to get the door so they can get her inside.

Silah helps Max get Chandra inside where there is a waiting gurney. ?Nurses! I have a young woman here, seems to have been stabbed multiple times to abdomen, bruising to face and chest. she also complained about being kicked to the back. ?I gave her a single drop of morphine for pain, and single drop blood coagulants to help with the wound blood issue., before packing wound. she appears to have lost a lot of blood.?

No more night shifts, they said. Focus on your exams they said. And yet here's Jude on duty as there simply wasn't anyone else around. Hearing the yelling outside, he comes out and frowns when he recognizes Chandra. Another one with a "tick ten, get one for free" club card for the clinic apparently. "Let's get her to the exam room", he orders quietly, while paging the only doctor on duty… "Dr Hill!!!"

Dr Hill has been paged. She comes to the front of the clinic, "What have we got?" It being the middle of the night, and all, it would have to be something pretty serious for them to summon her from the ward like that.

Chandra actually only has one stab wound to her front abdomen, lacerations on her face and arms, and forming contusions on her back that have not been seen yet. She's also bleeding - less than before - but it's obvious she's been bleeding a lot. Especially from that wound in her side that Max tried to put pressure on and Silah gave some sort of funky tasting medicine to help with too. Otherwise, the woman is barely keeping consciousness on the guerny she's been laid to rest on.

Max looks at Jude and Doctor Hill as they come out and see them there. His gloved hand's bloody at this point where he was holding the wound to stem the blood. "Please help her." His face is impassive, but there's a look in his eyes, he's obviously a touch distraught.

"It's what we're here for.", Jude tries to reassure Max, relieved to see Dr Hill appear so quickly, "Stab wounds, lots of blood loss.", he tells the doctor as they move into the exam room. Since Chandra is a registered patient, he can quickly look up her stats and go fetch a bag of the right blood group for her.

Finnegan Hill hardly seems surprised to see Chandra on a gurney. "Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean." Speaking of unclean hands, she gowns, hats, masks, gloves, and booties. Jude's already going for the blood so she orders two wide bore IV needles, which Dee inserts into Chandra's arm. One for the blood, one for the fluids and medications that Finn commands be given. She pulls a light over the prone woman's body and examines the abdominal laceration, first.
<FS3> Finnegan rolls Medicine: Good Success. (1 2 6 7 6 6 2 1 8)

Chandra tries to bleed less. Max meanwhile after getting her there, once they're in the exam room probably is made to wait outside. The whole, not remotely sterile, and not a doctor thing. And so Max waits out there, though probably at some point someone will complein for the man to at least wash his hand with the blood all over it.

Jude brings the blood, which he hands to Dee, before giving Finn a look. Really now? He knows he isn't trained yet for emergencies, but that hasn't stopped Finn from pressing him into service before, so he quickly does the whole scrubbing up routine to try and assist.

They'll go one better than that, Max - Joseph the creepy sleep-watching orderly will offer him a chance to clean up in the break room and a spare set of scrubs so he can not be wearing Chandra's blood. Finnegan calls for the most senior nurse on premises to administer the gaseous anesthesia, telling her exactly what pressure and concentration. "Jude, I'll need a 10mm straight scalpel and forceps, I need to get in there and see what's been hit. And keep a close eye on her blood pressure. I want to know if it drops."

Chandra is now under anesthesia and a scalpel. Perhaps it's just a graze against the intestine - who knows! …Well the doctor will in just a moment. But this part can likely be skipped for those who are not so inclined to bloody, gooey, icky surgical type things right?

But then Finnegan can't use words like trocar, through which she will insert the laparoscope so she can see what she's doing without cutting a significantly larger hole in Chandra than needed. And then there's the bowel grasper, with which she can gently manipulate the internal tissue without damaging it. Chandra is dead lucky - it is possible to get stabbed in the abdomen without getting the bowel nicked, according to the really gruesome You Tube! video. There's still a fair amount of clean-up that must be done, both through suction and swabbing. Then, with a needle driver, she's able to stitch the wound, leaving no more sign of a problem than the original laceration and an additional 5mm cut through which Finnegan did all that she needed to do.

Jude and Dee (which makes for a nice pair of Judy) help as they are able, offering tools, assistance and so on to the good doctor.

Finnegan asks Jude, "Did someone notify her brother? Please tell me someone called him." With the most serious of the injuries addressed, she can move on the examining the facial lacerations. Dee hits a record button on one of the tablets so that Finnegan can announce the injuries aloud. She says lovely things like, "There's a two-inch long laceration, no deeper 2.5 millimeters, to the brachioradialis." The reason for this is on the off-chance that someone wants to file a police report; a catalog of injuries will help the officers who have to gather information.

Max does not get scrubs on. His hand was really the only thing bloody, so he cleans off his hands and then waits outside for them to finish up with surgery.

Edwin was there. He doesn't bust into the exam room like he might have done a time before only to get put out on his ass. So as he's waiting for word on his sister, he looks to Max, offering the man a worried smile. "Do you know what happened to her?"
Chandra is still asleep.

Finnegan sutures where needed, if needed, butterflies where she can get away with it, and cleans and bandages what doesn't need more than attention than that. She turns off the recorder when all of the injuries have been catalogued, requesting that Dee take photographs and change the patient into a gown so that she can be sent back to the ICU for a time, before being transferred to the regular ward. There's a Max to update, and a Sr. Harris to calm. No point really explaining everything to Edwin - Finn knows better - she just gives him a brief summary and then hands him a tablet so he can read the chart for himself. She knows that Harris will post himself over his sister's bed, which is even better than having the nurses keep vigil.

Jude is glad when everything is taken care of, so he can slip out and get a few more hours of sleep

"I found her in an alley, beaten and stabbed." Max is rather to the point… unfortunately that bluntness isn't much for consolation. His coin is out, over the fingers of his left hand, as he stands there, a statue waiting. Eventually Finnegan is there to give Edwin a tablet, so Max waits. He's learned to be patient. He doesn't always like it, but he's learned it.

Finnegan flits about throughout the night, checking on Chandra less and less frequently as it becomes clear that she's stable and not in immediate danger of crashing. She has a nurse bring Max and Edwin tea and keeps them well informed as to progress.

Finnegan also makes sure Jude's sleeping form is well blanketed, then kills the lights in the break room and declares it a Quiet Zone. She's tried to sleep when there's crazy activity in there, and it sucks.

Examination Room 1 Eavesdown
Sat 18 April 2530, 23:34:47 — Sat Apr 18 23:34:47 2020

A simple windowless examination room in which a slightly outdated doctor's bed takes center stage. With any luck it will even spring into action when needed and the readout screen over the head of the bed will display stats for the patient that occupies it. Nearby is a small desk with one plastic chair, a cortex screen, and a mass of clipboards, medical gadgets, and old magazines.

The opposite wall is lined with cupboards and storage cabinets as well as a sink and a pantry workspace. There is little space to work though as it's piled with bandages, bottles, a rack of hypo-guns, and other miscellany. An e-poster on one wall displays medical information, rotating through colorful and informative displays dealing with proper diet, stopping smoking, and the forty-five types of cancer you're likely to get by stepping outside of this nominally sanitized space.

This room is currently UNLOCKED. See +lhelp for local help files.

It's hours before Chandra actually is awake enough to be allowed visitors. Her brother is first, just because he's a doctor and he says so. Though their conversation is…probably not the best one. Of course from one end of the spectrum Edwin is trying to show he cares, but on the other end is the stubborn Chandra who sometimes doesn't see it that way. Never the less, Edwin leaves due to being on shift, and as he's leaving he lets Max know that she's awake enough to carry on conversations if he wants to go inside. Inside the room, connected to IVs and machines that watch stats, Chandra lies in bed staring at the ceiling.

It's after Edwin has done his thing, and after everything is settled. He's long since cleaned himself off, and he enters the room since Edwin said she was conscious. Moving over to the bed he moves to crouch down by the bed so his head is closer to her level, a hand reaching out to brush at her cheek. "Greetings."

Chandra shifts her gaze over to Max after a moment. Her eyes gently close, briefly, as she feels that hand brushing against her cheek. "Hey Max…" Offered in a voice that's still a little weak but getting stronger. She still has meds being pushed through one IV and blood being pushed through another. After a moment she shifts her gaze back to the ceiling. "…Sorry about…all this."

Max offers a smile and moves to squeeze her arm lightly, wherever there isn't a scrape of tube to worry about anyway. "It is alright. You are alive, and you will heal. That is what is most important." His coin slips out to his right hand, flipping over fingers while he holds her arm lightly with his left.

"They came out of nowhere…" Chandra suddenly says, still looking up at the ceiling. "They had to have been watching me…but I don't even know how they knew who I was…" This much more offered before she shakes her head. "Probably a snitch. Has to be…" Though, at this point, is she talking to Max or…to the ceiling? "…You still have that piece of paper?"

"I do." His left hand makes a motion and the paper appears between two fingers. "It is safe. What is it? What have you gotten into?" He seems concerned, though he still stays still, leaving the paper out a moment in case she wants it, pocketing it away again after if she doesn't seem to.

Chandra reaches and gently retrieves that piece of paper from between Max's fingers, then she goes about to unfold it and shows it to him. It's…a bunch of seemingly random letters and numbers written out. "I'm really good with computers." It's all she says, and then she realizes she's in a hospital gown and her clothes are likely being washed. So she sighs, re-folds the paper, and hands it back to Max. "Like I've told Mari, who doesn't seem to believe me, I'm… I'm not a good person. I'm someone who does bad things with good intentions…" Then she looks away again. "…Might have told you that a time or two also…"

"That you have," Max replies as he takes the paper back. It disappears, and then he asks after a bit, "Where did you get it? What is it for?" Obviously someone's willing to stab someone and leave them beaten in an alley for it…. Max gives her arm a squeeze and adds, "Help me keep you safe."

Chandra shifts her gaze to him, and then she lets out a soft sigh. "Remember the other day? When you found me on the docks people watching?" She begins, shifting her more free hand to cover his on her arm. "I got it then. It's a code, when I decipher the code I'll find a name…and when I find the name I need to use a computer to take them out." She then scoffs. "There are only a handful of people who are supposed to know me outside the cortex for this kind of stuff. So either the ones who passed it off were being watched…or I am…" She frowns. "Which is why I can't tell you who did this until I get that piece of paper deciphered."

Max hmms, pensive and he nods after a moment. "I do not remember seeing anyone that day out of place besides the people you spoke with…" Seems he indeed saw her have a talk anyway. "If they did find you there, they are good." The coin stops, and his other hand moves to lightly scratch at the hair on his chin. "How will deciphering the name let you take them out?"

"When you're someone like me mucking around on the cortex…on the inner workings of it…you won't go into it looking for Chandra Harris. You'd go looking for my alternate name…" Chandra explains as best she can. "That piece of paper holds a name. A name of someone who's been going after my boss for a while now. They finally figured out who it is, but only their cortex name. And I'm the one they go to so I can basically stop them. It's a virtual war, Max. I just happen to be a key player on this front." Then she smirks. "…no one knows this about me. You understand this? I have never told anyone about this. This is my actual job. My real work. My front is being a petty criminal in Eavesdown. But I'm a computer hacker. And while I do not boast to be the best…I am a damn good one."

Max blinks a few times as Chandra speaks. He's not.. illiterate, but he's certainly not savvy enough about computers to comprehend a war being waged there. His group had 'people' for that. A nod is given though, and he says after a moment, "We will keep you safe. Mariya and I." He holds up a hand for the ensuing argument, or at least readies one and quickly says, "I am not saying to tell her all this. But.. you should have someone capable near you, at most times. They may try something again." And when they did he would hopefully be ready.

Chandra would have argued when he mentions that both he and Mari would keep her safe, but when he quickly adds that he doesn't mean to tell Mari the full details, she settles a bit. "Hopefully they'll think I'm dead. Which gives me some time to recover and do my job." Then she takes a breath. "It's never felt this real. I got…sloppy I guess. But to be laid up with physical injuries over something usually fought behind false names and screens…" She stops talking for a moment. "I appreciate you wanting to keep me safe." She adds with a smile and then she shifts and winces out a cry of pain. "Fuck…"

Max brushes her cheek some at that, careful to avoid bruises. He stands up to lean in and kisses the top of her head. "You are entering my world. It is far more lethal. I will keep them away from you." He grows quiet about that. A pause and then he adds, "There is something I should tell you though. To keep you safe, in case something bad happens."

Chandra lets her eyes close a moment as he kisses the top of her head, letting them flutter back open after a moment. "That's a bold statement to make, Maxim. You're only one man…though I hope you won't have to keep them away from me physically…" She surely didn't miss the part where he said she was entering his world, a far more lethal one. Always knowing she was sort of playing with fire having this position. At his last words, one of her brows raise and she looks pointedly to him. "What's that, love?"

There's a pause, a brief look of apprehension. Eventually though, a breath is taken, and Max speaks. "I was..changed..when I was young. Me, and those like myself. If I am ever injured greatly, bad things can happen. I should tell you the command word to stop it, so something bad does not happen to you. I have told Doctor Hill at work, and you and Mari should know as well."

Chandra would joke, but this time and place, these types of conversations were not really the place to make jokes. Nevermind the fact that it might just go over poor, literal Max's head. So she nods and then tilts her head in a listening manner. "Do I want to know what happens? What this something bad might be? Or just accept it, learn the commans word to stop it, and leave it at that?" Then she continues, "I mean is there a way to know the difference between you and the bad thing about to happen you?"

Max grows pensive, and then he says, "If you wish to know, I will tell you. I told Doctor Hill. She claims… to know someone. Someone who may be able to help. Until then however, I need to know that the people around me will be safe." He thinks a moment and then answers her other question with, "What is inside me is…a monster. You will know it. Do not understand. I am a killer Chandra. I killed my first person when I was twelve, almost thirteen. But what they put inside us…they put inside true monsters."

"I mean you seem to be able to hold your own well enough. I'd hate to actually see you injured. However, that said…I would like to know about this if you're willing to tell." Chandra says this much before she listens to his other answer. She blinks when he admits to the first time he killed someone, the age he was, and that whatever was put inside him - them - was a true monster. Her hand shifts back to rest on top of his on her arm and she gives it a squeeze. "You cannot help what was done to you. What they trained you to become. But if the need arises, I'll do my best to protect you and those around you." Aside from whoever did the injuring. Those people could die fiery deaths. "..I love you, Max. All of you. Understand?"

Max nods curtly. "The word is Sadasya. You must say it loud and clearly, so I can hear it. It will… lock it away, and leave me subdued. So do not use it if there is still need for me to stop someone from hurting you." He lets out the rest of the breath he was holding subconsciously. Shifting to sit on the edge of the bed, careful not to sit on any cords or tubes he looks down at her. "I love you too." He leans down and kisses her forehead again.

"Sadasya." Chandra repeats, which helps her commit the word to memory but she does flit her gaze to Max to perhaps make sure the word doesn't do anything now. At his instructions on using it only when it's time for him to stop hurting someone, or keep it from hurting her or someone else they care about she nods. As he sits on the edge of the bed, her hand that's on his shifts away and her closer hand moves just enough so she can rest it on his closer thigh. Her eyes flutter close for a moment as she takes a breath, giving a soft hum as he kisses her forehead. "…When do you work again?"

A pause as she asks the question, and he thinks about it a moment. "Tomorrow. I can see if they would mind me pushing it to a night instead. They should not get too predictable with my schedule anyway." He is pretty much all the security they have anyway. He gives her hand on his thigh a squeeze and says, "I will stay here for now, until I can speak with Doctor Hill, or someone about it."

Chandra gives a soft chuckle. "I mean you work here…and it's not like I'm going anywhere anytime soon…" Saying this as a light joke before she clears her throat some. "Mmn…I think they gave me some pain killers at some point. Or maybe the adrenaline is finally rushing out of me…" This offered as she shifts to look at the ceiling again. "Don't get yourself in trouble with work over me being here, okay? Just…just stay with me a while…." Her words trail off as they get heavy from becoming drowsy. "I..I think I'm going to rest now…"

Max smiles at that. "Rest then. You are safe here." He kisses her forehead again, and moves to sit by her for awhile, holding her hand until he's sure she's good and asleep. Only then will he carefully slide off the bed, careful not to wake her so she can rest.
