Gideon and Jude have disembarked from the Desert Rose. If other PCs came, they have separated off at this point, leaving our two intrepid heroes. One supposes Jude's fellow students have come along. "So, Jude, where'd you wanna go first?" Gideon wonders. He's changed out of his coveralls and into a less casual, but still not formal, just a t-shirt and khakis. "I just gotta be back by tomorrow morning, to drop off the cargo. We made good itme," he admits, like he sounds a little surprised.

Jude is in his usual wannabe rock star chic with distressed black jeans and a heavy metal shirt, which is a marked contrast to Vicky wearing a rather tiny mini-dress with sparkles, while Katie has opted for a more sensible outfit of long tight jeans and a blouse. "I dunno.", Jude admits a little overwhelmed by the bright neon glare of the main street and its massive casinos. They decide to let Vicky take the lead, who has done the most reading on Santos apparently (if only from gossip pages) and leads them through the neon-lit ravine to a casino rising forty stories high. "The roof-top bar is amazing!", she promises them, pointing at the lifts flitting up and down the facade outside.

Gideon doesn't seem terribly impressed with Santos. He doesn't dislike it, but he's not terribly effusive about anything, either. Still, he's a good sport, happy to be with the group, and he agrees, cheerfully, with Vicky. "Rooftop bar? That sounds real cool."
Someone's so getting thrown off the roof…

Jude has been rather quiet as well, but maybe he's simply overwhelmed by the visual onslaught of the main street. There are also rather distracting billboards advertising scantily-clad dames draped over lush interiors. All the same, they enter the casino which receives them with a mix of noisy music and the jingling of a hundred slot machines. There's a queue for the lifts and a rather hefty price tag for admittance. Jude exchanges a look with Gideon. Clearly, if they let Vicky take the lead on this trip they're going to be broke for a year.

Gideon flashes an amused look back at Jude. "I got this one," he offers, maybe wanting to build up some good will among the group in case he ends up wasted and in trouble. "Bet they've got some real neat drinks up there," he offers in Vicky's direction. And, by 'real neat', he likely means 'stupid expensive'.
"Aw, aren't you a darling!", Vicky squeaks and leans over to peck Gideon's cheek in thanks. Katie rolls her eyes. "There is a museum depicting the development of the planet and the casino area.", she comments rather quietly as if she realizes that nobody but her gives a fig. Which gets Jude to squirm, because he really can't think of a more boring place and yet he clearly wants to please her. "Well, let's go up first, admire the view, have a drink?", he suggests. Because what could go wrong. And so they join the queue that very slowly shuffles forward.

"We could always split up," Gideon offers, patiently. He accepts Vicky's kiss on the cheek with a grin - the sort of grin that says she has /no/ idea what she's getting into, if she hangs out with him. Of course, if Vicky can keep up with Gideon, then that might even be more worrisome. "Vicky and I can meet you two up at the bar - unless it'd be easier for me to go with Katie?" he tries to help Jude, not sure which of the ladies he's interested in, if not both. He slowly shuffles with the rest of the queue, just in case.

Jude has a thing for the smart ones that are out of his league. Sadly. But Katie did join the trip, so who knows. For now she even seems to be satisfied to stay with the group and get up on that rooftop. "We can go to the museum afterwards.", Jude makes an effort. A heroic effort. Finally it's their turn and they pay an ungodly sum to board one of the glass-encased lifts that sky-rockets up on the facade and this time it's Jude going slightly green as the ground disappears beneath him far too quickly accompanied by some faux-Wagnerian blast of music. "jesus fuck". he mutters under his breath, relieved when they stumble out at last.

Gideon tries to keep his thoughts about Jude's game, or lack thereof, himself. He puts a steadying hand on Jude's shoulder when he notices that the other man is a little green. "Little whiskey'll clear that right up. Happens all the time," he keeps his voice low. "So, you ladies like drinking, dancing, singing karaoke? What's your pleasure?" he wonders, once they hit the bar.

"Yea, all of that.", Vicky confirms eagerly, while Katie shrugs. "It's okay, I suppose." Well, if she'd rather curl up with a good book and a cup of hot cocoa, this is not the right time to admit it. And there IS a flash of curiosity in her eyes as they step out of the lift area onto the rooftop proper. It has everything - a big pool in which some people are floating on pink flamingos and oversized donuts, a tiki bar serving luridly colored drinks, a dance floor and sun loungers placed on an artifical beach. Also quite a few impossibly beautiful people in skimpy bikinis or shorts. But also overweight tourists in Hawaii shirts who have come to admire the view and because the place is mentioned in their tourist guide. "Come -!" Vicky grabs Gideon's hand to drag him to the tiki bar for drinks, the other two following more slowly.

Gideon's eyeing the pool. /That/ is a place for mayhem. He's not leaving this bar. EVER. At least, until he realizes the price of drinks in place like this. Laughing, he lets Vicky drag him along, up to the bar. "Shots and a chaser?" he suggests, although he does flash Katie a concerned look, maybe not wanting to push her too far out of her comfort zone, too fast. Jude, however, is fair game - he fully expects to be holding his hair back while he vomits over the side of the building.

"Totally!", Vicky agrees eagerly to Gideon's suggestions to take the fast road to getting drunk. Katie opts for a fruity cocktail. Jude eyes the drinks lists with a sigh. What happened to plain beer? So he goes with a fizzy drink topped up with some liquor. It looks good. Most of the drink is nearly black with a glowing blue ball inside. "I hope you brought your swimming trunks.", Vicky leans in to Gideon.

"Seems like, place like this, for the price they're chargin', you should be allowed to swim in whatever you want," Gideon supposes, managing to sound not at all lewd about it. "You bring your suit?" he asks Vicky, then nods at Jude and Katie. "Jude, Katie? Y'all wanna go look at the - - " and then Gideon's voice trails off, like he's seen something he didn't expect to see.

Vicky is already grabbing her dress for the big reveal - no, not that one, but she did plan ahead and put a bikini on underneath her dress - but then she senses that Gideon's attention is wandering and not to where she likes it to be. "What?", she frowns, while Jude and Katie just look confused, their thoughts still on the glowing blue ball and how the drink works.

"So sorry - " Gideon turns, then, so he's face to face with Vicky, rather than looking in the direction he was looking. "It's nothin'," he assures her, channeling extra warmth into his green eyes, then smiling wide. "Bottom's up?" he suggests, reaching for the shots when they come.

Vicky looks suspicious for half a second - did he spot an ex-girlfriend causing trouble? - but then eases up again. "Bottoms up!", she agrees with a big smile and chugs her shot. Then she does take the next step to remove her dress and reveal the bikini (and herself, which isn't half bad). The dress gets unceremoniously dumped on Katie, who rolls her eyes and puts it over one arm.

That's totally possible, knowing Gideon! He chugs his shot, smiling at Vicky. "C'mon, let's go over to the pool," he offers her his arm, grabbing the drink in the other. "We'll see you two over there?" he wonders, of Katie and Jude, again trying to give Jude the opportunity to be alone with Katie. But, as he glances at them, he looks past them, then winces, before quickly returning his attention to Vicky. "Ready?"

"Totally!" Vicky takes Gideon's arm to stroll to the poolside together with their drinks. Jude and Katie take the opposite direction to admire the famous view along the main street. Apparently neither is very keen to take their clothes off in public or get wet.

Once they're poolside, Gideon strips down as well - we'll say that he had some warning from Vicky, so also has trunks beneath his clothes. He keeps an eye on Jude, as well as the rest of the bar, but mostly focuses his attention on Vicky.

And then, when he's not watching, and full on flirting with Vicky, a woman suddenly moves, very quickly through the bar. She rushes up to Gideon and shoves him, hard, sending him flying into the pool.

Vicky squeaks loudly at the sudden attack and eyeballs the woman furiously. "Who the hell do you think you are?", she addresses her, leaving Gideon to flail in the pool. Oooh, excitement! Several people focus on the unfolding drama. Katie and Jude were on the way to admire the view on the other side when they notice Vicky shouting at someone and approach as well.

"His sister - " the woman hisses. She's an inch or two shorter than Gideon, her hair cut into a faux-hawk, and the tanktop she wears revealing that she's all solid muscle. "The fuck are you doing, numbnuts!?" she hisses as Gideon swims to the edge of the pull.

"I'm - " Gideon begins, but then his sister grabs him by the hair and shoves his head under.

Oh that's fine then. Vicky relaxes. "What's going on?", Jude asks her and she relays the news. Of all the joints in all the places… "Well, that's going to be interesting.", Jude comments idly and they watch the show while sipping on their drinks.

Gideon's sister lets him up, and he flails, now protesting. "Leia - " he sputters, protesting. "You stupid fucking shithead - where's our idiot cousin?" she demands. Her demeanor is stiff, angry, like she's knocked her little brother around once or twice before.
"I left him back on Persephone," Gideon gasps.
"Are you running this fucking job yourself?" she hisses, low, although they can probably hear her, anyway.
"No!" Gideon protests. "Jude is helping me!"
"Who the fuck is Jude?" Leia hisses.

"I'm Jude.", he bravely steps up, "We're here to celebrate surviving our exams - these are Vicky and Katie.", he introduces the girls in the hope that Leia realizes their brilliant cover for being on Santos. "Why don't you relax and have a drink with us?"

Leia stares at the three of them. She seems completely unimpressed. She and Gideon have the same green eyes, although she carries herself with an intimidating demeanor rather than Gideon's relaxed, n'er do well way of being. "Surviving your exams?" she repeats, glaring at Jude. "Your exams in /what/, pray tell?"

"First year at Nursing School.", he replies proudly, "It's the big one, where those unsuitable for the job are weeded out. If you pass, you're very likely to make it to the end of training and a good safe job." "And we're all passing, because we're awesome!", Vicky adds cheerfully and lifts her drink. "To us!" Katie and Jude agree on that one. "To us!"

Leia continues to stare at them, like she thinks they're utter, and total, and complete, morons. It's a dead-eyed sort of stare, with tiny little flashes of anger.

Gideon's finally pulled himself out of the pull, and he has a rare look of annoyance on his features, like shoving him, dunking him, and /then/ cussing him out in front of his friends is a shade too far. "Why are you here?" he demands, sullenly, of his older sister.
"Because there's a problem," Leia's upper lip curls, like she's prone to snarling. "Big problem."
"Oh?" It's not sure from who the sound comes. Maybe from all three. They're definitely curious and crowd closer around Leia to listen. The girls especially have no clue what's going on but it sounds exciting.
Leia gives Gideon an annoyed look. She's mad that he's pulled 'civilians' into the work, clearly. But she nods. "Yeah. Turns out, you know how Uncle Joey's eyesight ain't so good anymore?" Gideon nods, once, and Leia continues. "He wrote down the order wrong. You all ain't got enough in your hold to fill it."
Gideon winces. Leia nods. "Yeah. We tried callin' Davenport, explainin' what'd happened. He's real hot, and his people are already surroundin' your ship, lookin' for you and Apollo to hold until he gets his full order."

The nursing trio remains silent. They don't really know what's happening and more to the point what Gideon's supposed to do. So they sip their drinks and wait like spectactors at one of Santos' famous casino shows.

"Mkay - " Gideon takes that information in stride. Leia nods. "Anyway - I'll find you when we get a solution figured out, until then - " she rolls her eyes at the lot of them. "You're on your own." And she's gone.

"Wow, your sister's crackers.", Vicky comments when Leia has stalked off. "So what's she talking about? What's happening now?", she asks, a bit annoyed that her mojo has been killed.

Gideon's sense of levity returns, when Vicky calls his sister 'crackers'. "She's - yeah," he agrees. "What she means is - there's a buncha real mean guys surrounding the ship, so we basically gotta stay out and party until it all gets sorted out." He flashes a broad grin at Vicky, although he's deliberately avoiding eye contact with Jude.

"Oh, that's fine then, we were gonna party anyway, weren't we?", she grins and pushes Gideon back into the pool. This time she jumps in as well to follow and splash around. Jude doesn't seem to have much opinion on things. Well, he certainly doesn't mind being out with Katie. Neither makes a move for the pool but they spot a free sunbed nearby which they sit down on as if it's a bench to sip their drinks and watch.

The night is approaching a later hour. The drinks at the rooftop bar were too damn expensive, so Jude, Gideon, and Jude's nursing school friends, Vicky and Katie, left. Katie is the quiet, reserved sort who Jude doesn't seem to be able to talk to. And, for some reason, he hasn't tried to talk to Vicky, who is neither quiet nor reserved. But, that's fine with Vicky, because she's been coming on to Gideon. So far, Gideon hasn't taken the bait (or he hasn't been caught taking a bait), but he's a flirt, so, there's that dynamic.

Chandra may have gotten a communication from the group - by text, hopefully, that says: "DO NOT GO BACK TO THE SHIP" and with directions to meet them at the next party spot. It's a bar that's a bit less flashy - maybe a touristy casino - but the drinks are far cheaper.
<Chance> Chandra flips a coin: Success.

Jude has a sad affliction, getting interested in girls who are out of his league and then being unable to talk to them. And Katie seems to be the shy and uncertain sort. Eithe they both need to get terrifically drunk soon enough or they're doomed. Vicky just enjoys Gideon's company, especially after the run-in with his sister on the rooftop. They've done a bit of sightseeing and now they're loitering in that new casino. "We should try the slot machines.", Vicky suggests, "Maybe we'll go home as millionaires.

Did the communication scream at her to not go back to the ship? If she wants to take her drunken ass back to the ship, then she'll damn well take it back to the ship! Though the casino that the directions lead her to is not the ship, and she followed the directions with every intention of going to the ship that's not the ship because it's a casino. Walking her way inside, she looks around at all the noise and sights and everything else - eventually catching up with Jude and company. "Hey! Judicus! How's it going?" One arm lavishly draped over Jude's shoulders while she smiles in everyone's direction. "Who's becoming a millionaire?"

The incident with Gideon's sister, at the rooftop bar, seems to have slowed down his drinking, but the sight of Chandra having a good time seems to be /really/ tempting him to speed back up. "Oh, you know. Little trouble with the buy, ship's surrounded by angry folks. Glad you're here." He nods to Vicky. "Sure, yeah, let's see if we can hit it big. We might need it to pay the ransom."

Of course it's Katie rolling her eyes, but she shrugs and doesn't protest either. Jude smiles when Chandra rejoins the group. "We will. Maybe. I mean, you can't go to Santos and not play, yea?" He's not exactly drunk, but slightly tipsy, as much from the earlier drinks as from the whole crazy atmosphere and the onslaught of noise, smells and blinking lights. A curvy female robot rolls past with a large tray, offering free drinks to casino visitors and he picks something very green. "So, how these machines work?", the boy from the Rim asks, turning towards them.

When the robot with free drinks comes by, Chandra grabs something that is very, very blue. She drinks about a fourth of it and then smirks. "I could stand playing a couple games sure." This much as she grins to Gideon first. "Your ship gonna be alright?" Then she looks over to Jude and the two girls he's brought with him, and while she's still got an arm around him she 'whispers' into his ear. "Dude. If you don't make a pass at Katie, I sure as hell am gonna try…" Then she takes another drink.

"Slight problem," Gideon grabs four drinks, one for himself and one for each of the ladies. So what if they get their own? He's just being nice, damnit! He distributes them, then explains: "Little problem with the numbers on the cargo. If we go back, we might find ourselves in, ah, certain accomodations until the rest of the cargo shows up." He's clearly trying not to worry Katie and Vicky, but he's still taking this seriously enough that he's not doing shots.

The girls are really just seeing it as an additional adventure at the moment, especially Vicky, who's still hovering very close to Gideon. "You lead such an exciting life!", she coos. Jude meanwhile seems slightly panicked by the idea of someone else making a move on Katie. Maybe it's even lighting a fire under his ass, because when Katie offers to explain how to work the machine, he eagerly turns towards her to stand close together in front of the whirring blinking machine.
<Chance> Jude flips a coin: Failure.

Chandra glances around and then smirks. "Alright, you four have your fun. I'm gonna find someone to play with…" She says this much while turning to sort of meander into the crowd, only to be caught by shiny lights so she sits at a slot machine and begins to play.

Gideon stares at Jude for a few beats, like he's truly flabbergasted by his friend's lack of game. Maybe /he/ should start hitting on Jude, show him how it's - oh that's a brilliant plan. Then he shakes his head, knocking back his free blue drink and setting it aside. "It's just a livin'," he asides to Vicky, but he can't help but wink at her in a flirty little way.

"Well, it sure beats a nine to five job at the hospital.", Vicky replies with a smile. She watches Katie and Jude at the slot machine, where Jude's first coins disappear without any kind of yield. "He's really got all the luck in the world.", she smirks. With Chandra peeling off as well, she gives him a little nudge with her hip. "How about we go for a walk?", she suggests with a deeeeeep look into his eyes, suggesting that the walk will be a short one to the nearest really quiet spot

Gideon considers Vicky, then bites his lower lip. "I mean - I really outta keep an eye on Jude," he murmurs. "You know - help him with his game - and make sure he doesn't get kidnapped." He pauses then, like he's trying to talk himself into it. "There's a ton of security here, though - long as we're not gone /too/ long. And then, when we get back, we're both gonna help them get together? Or, maybe - " he totally is talking himself into it. "/We're/ the ones making them nervous. Oh, yes. We should totally go."

Vicky looks very pleased by this conclusion. "Katie likes him, but she worries that a boyfriend would be too distracting while she's studying. I don't know how she plans to get through three full years like that.", she confides as she and Gideon start walking away, "What's life without some fun and relaxation, right?" Coo.

Chandra is losing coins in her slot machine, put she keeps playing. Coin in, pull lever, nothing. Coin in, pull lever, nothing. Coin in, pull lever..wait for it….wait…for…it… BINGO! The machine makes all these funky noises and coins beginning spilling out of it with Chandra giving a laugh as it does so. "Hey! Lookit! I won!"

"She doesn't have to marry him - " Gideon seems amused by the idea that one has to be in any way committed to the person that they sleep with. "Or be his girlfriend. So, where you wanna walk to?" he asks Vicky, as the two of them fade out of sight…

…Meanwhile, a group of men and women, dressed in fatigues, are moving through the casino. They're eyeing digital devices in their hands, glancing from the devices to the faces of the patrons, like they're trying to identify certain individuals. It could be the police or security looking for troublemakers, except the clothing that these individuals wear doesn't match those of the casino's security or the local police force that they've seen so far.

Jude doesn't even mind seeing his coins disappear, as he's finally close to Katie and they're alone. When the machine finally dings and spits out some coins, he grins at her. "Well, woot - let's buy some nice drinks with that?", he suggests, perhaps to get her to a place where they won't be found by the other more assertive types in their group that make him nervous. They spot the fatigue-clad people, but Jude doesn't think twice about them. Could be casino staff, could be some weird bachelor party. Maybe they wil soon start stripping?

Chandra collects all the coins from her win and then shifts to stand up and slowly stumbles away from that slot machine. Does she notice the people in fatigues? Nope. She's much too inebriated to worry about random people searching for faces among a crowd. Though she does notice - somewhat slowly - that everyone from her little party has wandered off somewhere and now she's sort of…alone in a group of people. So she shrugs and begins to amble her way towards the exit of the casino.

One of the fatigued individuals moves to stand in front of Chandra. Three more of them surround Jude and Katie. They're all silent, but imposing in an odd way, like they expect to be obeyed without being questioned.

Jude eyes the fatigued types. "Look, you got the wrong people, we're not part of some stupid bachelor party.", he tells them with a slightly nervous chuckle. Katie remains silent, not at all sure what to make of this situation.

Chandra glares at the person in front of her in the fatigues and then scoffs. "Hey. Bucko. You're in my way…" She says this and then she tries to move around the person, intent on making it out of the casino.

"I need you to come with me," the man in front of Chandra says. His tone is flat, and his face is expressionless. The three surrounding Jude and Katie shake their heads: "Let's go," one of the demands. All of the fatigue clad individuals are fairly big, muscular, clearly hired for their ability to put a beat down on others.

Jude still isn't sure what to make of them, but decides it's probably better for his health to go along for now. And as they start walking, Katie slides her hand into his to hold on to. Well, that's worth it already!

"I need you to fuck off. I dunno who you are, or who you're with. But you got the wrong woman." Chandra quips back at the man, a little too drunk to really take in the serious nature of what might be in front of her. Gideon said the trouble was back at the ship, so why is there someone in front of her now? "I didn't cheat, and I haven't stolen anything…so buzz off."

The man immediately reaches for Chandra. He doesn't want her to make a scene. Maybe he doesn't actually have jurisdiction here, so a scene would draw the real authorities. One of the individuals - a woman, tall and muscular - breaks off from the Jude and Katie group, since they're so compliant, and moves over, so she can stand behind Chandra. "C'mon sweetheart," she murmurs. "Time to go. You. Your friends. Let's go."

Jude now notices that Chandra has been rounded up, too. But where are Gideon and Vicky? More to the point - where is Gideon, the only one who may have a clue what's happening and who SHOULD be talking them out of it? He frowns and gets his PDA out to send him a message.

"Don't call me sweetheart. Get your gorram hands offa me!" Chandra begins and then she growls. "HELP! Someone! I don't wanna go, they can't make me go! I didn't fucking do anything!" She struggles against the man who grabbed her too, if he's only got her by one arm, she'll swing the other one at him. "GET OFF ME! You fucking asswipe!" Oh, she's going to make the biggest gorram scene she can if they don't try and stop her from doing such.
"Shit - " the woman behind Chandra cusses, then tries to grab her in a restraint hold, from behind. "You're a little too drunk, sweetie," she hisses, although loud enough for the patrons around her to hear, so they don't worry about some sort of kidnapping going down in the casino.

The message is sent to Gideon, but it'll take him at least another round to get back, if he even gets it.

Jude looks relieved when the message goes out without the goons noticing or caring. Hopefully he hit all the right letters while typing one-handed in a hurry. The other hand is still holding Katie's and won't let go.

"Drunk?! You don't do this to someone who's fucking drunk! No! NO! Let me go, gorram it!" Chandra manages, while being put in that restraint hold, which she tries to break out of. "Doesn't anyone give a shit that someone's being taken against their will?! Where are the real authorities, cause y'all aint shit!"

Writhing and fighting, our Chandra, while Jude is like a little lamb led to slaughter. But, at least, he had the sense to text, one handed. Luckily, Gideon didn't go /far/, so he's able to return, quickly, and he's left Vicky somewhere safe. His hair's a mess, of course.

Now, this is Gideon, who once tried to end an argument with Finnegan and her mother by punching someone twice his size on the street outside. He doesn't /exactly/ have great plans when things are calm. So, what does he do to intervene, now, when his dear friend Chandra has been caught in a restraint hold? He grabs the first thing he can - a tray full of drinks served by a robot - and starts lobbing them at the kidnappers attempting to take Chandra.

Vicky may have been parked in a bar, which may or may not be a good idea. She's already spotted that rather handsome lonely guy in a tight-fitting charcoal-grey suit. Hopefully she won't be needed to ride to the rescue of her friends later. Jude's eyes widen when the cavalry in the shape of Gideon comes charging. "I would have thought he'd alert security.", he murmurs to Katie.

No one was expecting a Gideon Inquisition…or…attack…by drinks! It's enough to have the woman behind Chandra loosen her grip which was enough to allow Chandra to wiggle her way out of the hold. She ducks and dodges over towards Gideon and then looks around until she spots Jude and Katie. "Jude! The fuck you waiting for?! Come on!"

The sight of some official looking folks rounding people up wouldn't necessarily be noticed by the bored drones watching the cameras. But, a man throwing a tray of drinks /definitely/ would be. The actual security starts to swarm the area of the casino that they're in, meaning that Gideon has two sets of people wanting to get him the hell out of the casino, albeit for different reasons. "Go!" he shouts, then hops on the robot's back, riding it in an attempt to confuse his would be attackers. That strategy…is not going to last long.

Jude just… stares as all hell breaks lose. It's Katie who reacts to Chandra shouting at them and the real security moving in. "Come!", she tells him and with perhaps surprising (or not) bravado, karate-kicks the nearest goon straight in the balls, making him break down in a howl of pain. She uses the gap to pull Jude through and they follow Chandra to… well, wherever she's going. Hopefully out. "We can't leave Gideon alone!", Jude shouts at Chandra.
"Gideon will be fine! Come on!" Chandra yells back at Jude while the three of them make way out of the Casino. Though at this point, it's a question of where they're going to go. "Shit. Shit shit shit…" She looks, trying to shove the panic down. She then turns, and shoves a couple credit chits into Jude's hand. "Find a hotel. Somewhere that isn't here. Bribe the front manager to make sure no one comes looking for you and book the name under one that isn't your own." She explains quickly, looking between the two. "And wait for us. Okay? Go." She then grunts and looks back at the casino…and runs back into the fire.

Gideon rides the robot for a few beats. When Chandra returns, she'll find that he and one of the goons have separated off from the rest (the other goons beat a hasty exit when security arrived and Chandra, Jude, and Katie escaped their grasp). He and the other goon are full on fighting, with fists, feet, knees, and elbows flying.

<FS3> Gideon rolls Unarmed Combat: Good Success. (4 1 7 7 8)
And, shit, Gideon's putting up a good fight!

Jude dithers for a bit, perhaps considering helping, perhaps to watch Gideon's big fight. But then Katie tugs at him again and they melt away into the darkness.

Chandra comes back into the scene to see Gideon fighting one of the goons. With security getting thick, she grunts and moves closer to him. "Gids! Come on! Time to make a break for it…"

"Okay - " Gideon says, then turns to Chandra, trying to figure out his exit. Taking that attack of opportunity, the Gideon's opponent hits him square in the head, knocking him out.

When we last left our….heroes? Jude, Katie (and presumably Vicky), were on their way to a hotel. Chandra went back in to get Gideon, who took a blow to the head when he moved to leave the fisticuffs he was engaged in.

Jude and Katie had chosen a rather simple hotel, not one of the fancy palaces along the main street. They sent the name to Vicky, Gideon and Chandra and got comfy. Well, as comfy as they dared. Sitting fully clothed beside each other one of the beds, watching some daft reality show on the cortex while drinking fizzy soda, they brought along together with cheap food.

Chandra gets the name of the hotel room, and somehow manages to carry Gideon - or perhaps help his unconscious ass walk along - to the hotel. Most places like this usually don't ask questions, as she's likely just carting her drunk ass friend back from too much fun. She's given a key to the room next to Jude's but also to Jude's room and then makes her way there. Though by the time she's gotten to the door of Jude and Katie's room, she's out of steam and only manages to lean against the wall and knock on the door a couple times. "Jude…it's Chandra…lemme in…"

/If/ Gideon was in his right mind, he'd totally fuss at Jude for this. But, hey. It's Jude's party-cation, right? He's upright enough to walk, but still seems fairly stunned and out of it - it really is like carrying someone drunk, who can move around just enough that you have to make sure they don't randomly walk into traffic. Once or twice, he babbles at her, calling her 'Chandy Pandy Frandy Fry' and wanting to know if they can have ice cream.

Jude gets off the bed to first peer through the door spy to make sure it IS Chandra (and Gideon), then opens it and lets them in. "Is he okay?", he asks her worriedly when he sees the lump of human flesh she's carrying and gestures to the free bed to dump him onto it.

"They gave him a nice blow to the head…" Chandra explains while shifting to help Gideon walk to the free bed in the room. "No, Gideon. No ice cream. You rest now, and Chandy will take nice care of you, okay?" Saying this as she does - indeed - dump him on the bed. Then she tries to settle him in nice and at least removes his boots. "Okay. Now…" She looks around then. "Where's Vicky?"

Seeing Jude, Gideon beams at him, beatifically, as he's dumped onto the bed. "Poodle pants," he declares while pointing at Jude, just to make it clear who he means. "My dandy Chandy," he declares her, smiling as he tugs off his boots, then tugs off his own shirt, before laying his head on the pillow and letting out a deep, satisfied: "Ahhhhhh."

"Should we get him to a doctor?", Jude wonders and Katie gives him a look. "We are nurses, aren't we?" Well, almost. Not surprisingly, she has brought a medpack with her and starts doing a general check-up on Gideon, measuring blood pressure, pointing a light into his eyes and so on. "Vicky's met a guy.", Jude meanwhile informs Chandra with a shrug, as if this was wholly to be expected. Maybe it was. She wouldn't be getting much fun out of Gideon right now.

Chandra rolls her eyes. "Well she wasn't pinned as being with us - I guess - so she's safe. Meanwhile, how the hell are we going to get off this rock and back to Persephone?" Asking this while looking over at Gideon, true concern on her face. "He'll have to rest for a bit… if he's able. I don't know if he's got a concussion or not, but I know you shouldn't sleep with one of those." She shifts on her feet a bit, rubbing one of her arms and then lifts a hand to bite at her nails.

Gideon's typically a good patient for Jude, so it might be noteworthy that he flinches away from Katie's attention. It doesn't seem to be about Katie, though, the fussiness - he just wants to sleep. That, of course, could be very bad for what Katie's about to diagnose him with and Chandra's already guessed: a concussion. "Chandy," he groans, trying to pull a pillow over his head. "Am I gonna share a bed with you or Jude? The suspense is killing me. Night night. Light's out. Toodle Loo."

Katie nods. "It's definitely a concussion, though I can't check for bleeding. We need to watch him and make sure it's not getting worse. You CAN rest.", she informs Gideon, "We'll just check on you regularly to make sure you're doing okay." Clearly she's more in her element here, treating a patient, than partying in casinos. "You're not sharing a bed with anyone." She dithers a bit but the solution is obvious. Girls and boys separate. "Jude will stay with you and check on you. We'll take the other room and get some rest too." She looks at Chandra to indicate she's meant.

"No. Screw that. You can go sleep in the other room I got…" Chandra waggles the key at Katie. "But I'll share a bed with Gideon. I'll make sure he's fine." She didn't care how much Katie tried to put her foot down about it, she was older and therefore - it was her ruling that would be final. "I mean it's not like I'm going to get naked with Jude in the room. And I don't care if it's proper or whatever. You can save that for when you go back to college." She shifts then to sit next to Gideon on the bed. "Welcome to the real world, sweetheart." A slight glance to Jude, like she's trying to perhaps apologize for sounding so mean and upset when clearly she's just worried. A lot.

With his head still beneath the pillow, Gideon groans when Katie announces separate rooms. He doesn't /wanna/ sleep alone in this huge stupid bed that isn't on his perfect ship that is under siege right now because gorram Uncle Joey can't see well and didn't write the order down right. "S'okay," he murmurs, like he wants to assure Katie. "Will get this all sorted in the morning. Maybe Leia's texted me?" he paws at his pants.

Katie and Jude exchange a look and he shrugs a little. "Okay then." Katie clearly isn't putting up a fight about anything. "I'll leave the medpack here, just in case." Then she picks up her things and moves to the other room, leaving Jude behind with a slight sigh. He'd tell Gideon to get some rest but the question of a text is an interesting one after all.
<FS3> Chandra rolls Pick Pocket: Good Success. (4 4 6 8 2 2 1)

As Gideon goes pawing for his phone, Chandra rolls her eyes and finds it on Gideon's person before he has a chance to really - blindly - find it himself. "You shouldn't be looking at bright screens anyway since you can't even stand the light in this room." She says while looking at the phone in her hand and then poked Gideon in the side. "Is it locked? What's the code? Come on, I'll check for you. What's the worst I'm going to find, a text from my brother?" She jokes.

"Mmrph - " Gideon's response is fairly nonsensical, but then he laughs at her words. "The password is 1 2 3 4," he offers, sagely, like he thinks that's so secure - it's so dumb, nobody would guess it, right? "Probably no texts from your brother, Chandy," he adds. "But if there is, could you read it to me?"

Jude just sits and waits since he has nothing else to do.

Chandra settles in the bed next to Gideon, unlocking his phone and opening his messages. "Ah. From Edwin. Hope you're doing well, can't wait to see you again. I like the friends with benefits angle, but that means we're friends so I worry about you." She almost gags after reading that and then shifts to read texts from Leia. "Uhm… from Leia… sit tight. We're working on the situation. Then update, should have something resolved by morning. And finally what the fuck went down at the casino? Do they have you? I told you to lay the fuck low." So she chuckles and then types out a quick reply. "Nothing happened. At a hotel. Talk in the morning. Night."

From beneath the pillow, Gideon lets out a contented sigh. "All good then," he declares it. "You should probably tell him I have a concussion, since he's all about honesty?" he worries. Leia's text gets a grunt. "She's so gorram bossy. Not my fault Uncle Joey can't see."

A new morning has dawned over Santos. Jude kept his promise to check on Gideon every few hours to make sure his condition wasn't worsening. Neither of them have thusly had all that much sleep, but when the sun rose, they decided to go for a coffee anyway, while the ladies were still asleep. There's a little coffee shop right next to the hotel with an outdoor seating area, where they can sit on cheap plastic chairs with trays of coffee and cheap greasy breakfast food. "How are you feeling?", Jude checks.

"Not great," Gideon admits. He purchased a pair of souvenir sunglasses on their way to coffee, along with a hat, to try to keep out as much light as possible. But it's not that that seems to be bothering him. "I'm just - this whole thing took a gorram turn it wasn't supposed to take," he mutters. "How are you doin'?" he seems to be trying to shift to his usual optimism.

"Well, you're not too good at planning, are you?", Jude grins, though he doesn't seem upset in any way. In fact he's smiling. "It's still awesome, just to be here and … well… it's kinda nice. I think Katie likes me.", he explains hopefully, "She thought it was quite an adventure."

Gideon lets out a weak, but approving laugh at the news that Katie likes Jude. "I'm glad. Hopefully we don't end up strung up by our toes or anything crazy," he worries. "And - I mean. I planned the job. Figured the rest'd fall into place."

"Yea, things rarely do.", Jude smirks and takes a bite from his greasy muffin. "So what's the plan? How are we getting out of this and getting home? I don't mind staying another night or two, but then I need to get back to Persephone."

"My sister's hopefully gonna get it worked out - " Gideon explains. He's checked his phone a few times, wincing at the screen as he does. "There's a supply of these rocks on a nearby moon - we're gonna take a loss, ultimately, but it's worth it to avoid more problems."

"What kind of rocks are we talking about anyway?", Jude asks and smirks faintly, "I knew you'd be taking stuff to make the journey worthwhile for you but I never really asked WHAT. Maybe I didn't wanna know."

"It's just some kinda stone - it's from one of the rim planets," Gideon seems to only inform himself on a need to know basis. "Best as I can understand, there's a big tax on it, here, because there's like - " he scratches his head. "Some competition? Local? And they like, convinced the local government to tax outside shipments - even though the stuff I've got is way cheaper and holds up just as nice."

"Why would stone be taxed? It's just stupid stone?", Jude wonders and shrugs. These things are beyond his understanding. He takes a sip of his coffee. "So what's the plan for today?"

"Layin' low until the rest of it comes in," Gideon considers Santos. "Gonna probably be a mix of tryin' to keep your lady friends safe while still having fun, you know?" He sips his coffee as well. "It looked like there might be a concert at that arena you were interested in - some kinda day thing?"

"Oh yea?", Jude asks excitedly, "What is it? Oh, I don't care what it is, I want to see the place. They used to show a string of concerts from there on the cortex which I watched over and over… thought that one day I'll be performing there myself. For now it will do to just see it, I guess.", he grins, then looks sheepish. "I was gonna take Katie to that museum first. Maybe we can all meet up at the arena after lunch?"

"Definitely." Gideon grins at him, from behind that hat and sunglasses. "Take Katie to that museum. Just wear a hat or somethin', they must have some hack into the security footage at the dock yard, which is probably how they knew to go after you guys."

"Oh totally, we can wear a disguise.", Jude grins happily. He seems to actually like the idea. Though his disguise is usually complete when he hides his platinum blonde hair under some beanie. "What would they have wanted with us anyway?", he can't resist asking.
GAME: Save complete.

"The guy we're dealing with is kind of a - " Gideon pauses, then sips his coffee again. "A jerk," he decides. "Just - impatient, angsty, doesn't like to feel slighted. Kinda paranoid. So when Leia had to tell him that the shipment wasn't all there, he thought she was jerking him around and selling to his competitor. So he probably figures if he gets us, he ensures he gets his rock."

"So… worst case scenario, if they get us, they'd just keep us until he gets his rock?", Jude wonders, trying to piece the information together. "That doesn't sound too terrible."

"Yeah. If it was just me and Apollo, we'd probably just save the money on the hotel and let 'em grab us," Gideon admits, then chuckles. "But I think it'd be a lot for the rest of you, which is why I'm hopin' we can avoid it. Plus, you never know if there's somethin with those guys who is goin' rogue or whatever and then things could get even crazier."

"Yea, I don't care much for myself, but I don't want to get Katie in danger. Or Vicky.", he adds, almost as an afterthought, "You wouldn't think it, but she's smart. And she's got a great way with patients."

"Vicky seems like a nice girl." Gideon seems to enjoy Vicky's company, but he probably won't be calling on her when they get back to Persephone. "And smart, yeah. She didn't ask twice when I told her to stay put."

"She plans to marry a rich doctor.", Jude explains with a grin. Just in case Gideon might think of seeing her again. "She's good fun though and I knew she could talk Katie into coming along to this."

"Well, good then. I don't gotta worry about breakin' her heart or nothin'. Always weird when you see people, after." Gideon shrugs. "Gotta get used to it, though. Looks like Eavesdown's gonna be our home base for a while."

"Don't forget she's a nurse, she knows how to not get pregnant.", Jude winks, "She's mostly about having fun and no better place than Santos, you'd think, hm?" He looks at the street, still quiet in the morning hour, with just two middle-aged ladies shuffling past on their way to some dreary job no doubt. "You ever dream of being really rich?"

Gideon considers Jude's question, then shakes his head, a little smile dawning. "No, actually." He seems quietly settled about that, although he tilts his head, interested in whether Jude does. "You?"

"Nah, not really.", he replies, "I figure it would be grand to have enough money to hire one or two farm-hands to help my parents, especially now that I'm gone. And to have enough money to get a band together and tour, but this shit here -" He gestures vaguely at the shiny high-rise casinos and hotels in the distance, "Kinda weirds me out. The price on them cocktails yesterday alone!"

"Spendin' money seems to make some folks feel good about themselves, I reckon," Gideon supposes, after a look and a nod at what Jude's gesturing to. "More you spend on it, the fancier it must be, even if it doesn't cost a lot. Government's mess with people's minds, never let 'em know the trust cost of somethin'."

"Or where it all comes from.", Jude agrees gloomily, "All this food being wasted here… it took a lot of work to grow and raise out there on the Rim, y'know. But anyway -" He finishes his muffin and smiles. "I still wanna enjoy this. I should go back and see if Katie is up and ready…"

"We'll enjoy it, yeah - we just gotta watch our backs, is all. Keep an eye on your device - " he means their phones or whatever they use to communicate, in this age. He extends a fist over the table, meant for a bump of solidarity.

"Cheers, mate." Jude does the fistbump with him and gets to his feet. "You should get some more rest, if you can.", he warns, "Your head will need a few days to fully recover." Then he disappears into the coffee shop for a free refill and then to the hotel to check on Katie.

Later, after Jude's taken Katie to the museum and the gang's enjoyed a fun (but, admittedly tame due to concerns of laying low) at a concert, they're all walking back toward the hotel. Chandra's gone off somewhere, we'll say, and, as has Vicky, so Gideon's doing his best to stay the heck out of the way of Jude and Katie as the walk back toward the hotel.

Jude is rather animated, elated by the fact that he got to see the famous arena itself and a fairly decent rock band. He had a few beers that make him chatty. Katie is rather quiet. She might mentally be drawing up a map to the friendzone. But when she does get a word in, she asks: "When are we going back to Persephone?" Jude looks at Gideon as if to forward the question to the man in charge.

Gideon's lagging about ten feet back from them, almost like a security guard/chaperone. He doesn't want to be in the way, but he doesn't want them to get hurt, either. At Katie's question, he looks up. "Oh, I'm thinkin' morning, probably, if everything goes according to plan." They find themselves at the hotel soon enough. "You two go on ahead, I'm gonna catch up with Leia," he nods to his phone, lifting it to his ear.

"Okay." Katie doesn't seem to be too happy but it's something she can live with. "So what do we do now?", Jude asks, "Get some rest before the evening?" Clearly he wants to return to the casino strip one last time since they're here anyway. Katie hms. "We can go to the pool?" That doesn't please him too much, but he reluctantly agrees. They go up to their rooms and meet again by the pool. It's nothing fancy like in the big hotels, just a rectangular pool lined with cheap loungers and a bar in the corner. Katie has changed into a swim suit and is actually in the water. Jude's only concession to their encironment is that he swapped his usual jeans for knee-length shorts, exposing white bony legs to the world. He's keeping his distance from the water like a vampire from garlic.

Gideon nods, indicating that he'll be along to the pool in a minute. He doesn't seem intent on swimming, just hanging out in a lounger and staying out of the way. But he doesn't come along right when they get down there. Instead, maybe 5 minutes after they've arrived, he comes bursting into the pool area, his face wide with fright.

Jude seems relieved to not be left parked by the poolside alone, but then he notices Gideon's expression and frowns. "What's going on, man?", he asks, tensing immediately.

"We gotta go. Leia says they know we're here - " Gideon hisses, then looks around wildly. "We gotta run like /now/. Get in a car or a ship or whatever and /move/."

"Shit!" Jude hops up to wave Katie to the edge of the pool and relay the information. She quickly gets out and puts her dress over her still wet body, but she has the sense to also take the towel from her chair to dry off. "Can we go get our things from the room?", Jude asks Gideon worriedly. He feels rather naked.

"No - I mean - " Gideon thinks, then he shakes his head. "No - unless you really wanna - I guess we could - " and he flails his arms, not entirely sure what the right call is.

Don't go on the run in flipflops. "Call us a cab or something?", he suggests to Gideon, then turns to Katie. "Come!" He takes her hand and they rush into the hotel. At least they're quick about it and reappear a few minutes later in their normal clothes.

Gideon's got a car waiting. The driver seems calm, clearly having no idea why Gideon's so manic. That is, until a few cars come zipping around the corner. "SHIT!" Gideon shouts, then waves Jude and Katie frantically along.

Jude and Katie hop into the car quickly and turn around to look through the back screen at the approaching pursuers. "Let's go!", Jude shouts as if Gideon isn't painfully aware of them cutting it close.

Gideon hops in right after them. "Dude!" he shouts at the cab driver. "Those gorram shits are gonna try to kill us!" He smacks his hand on the headrest to emphasize his point. The cab driver blinks, then frowns. "And they're gonna mess up your car if you don't GO man GO GO GO!"

"I thought they were only going to kidnap and hold us?", Jude glares at Gideon. 'Killing' is quite another level. "Did your sister not sort this? I thought it was all sorted?!", he shouts at him as panic begins to rise. Katie says nothing. She's finishing the map to the friendzone in her mind.

"/Jude/" Gideon fusses back at Jude. "Nobody hustles when you explain the whole damn bit about kidnapping - " he glances at the cab driver. "Kill us. They're going to kill us. Take us to the docks, man!"

The driver speeds off, right as the other cars start to pull up near them.

"Jeezus fuck. Where's Chandra and Vicky?", he asks, "And if we're leaving now, what about our stuff? My favourite t-shirt is still at the hotel?!" Sure, Jude, that's the thing to worry about now!

"Text them to pick it up or somethin'" Gideon throws his hands up in the air. "Or leave it at the front desk and we'll get it next time," he offers, all while watching the cars that are chasing them.

"Next time?!" Jude eyes Gideon as if he lost his mind. "I just wanna get off this damn rock." He eyes the pursuers that are steadily closing in on them. "Do you at least have a gun or something?"

"Yeah - " Gideon winces. "I don't much like usin' it - " he adds. They reach a traffic light, which causes their driver to slam on the brakes, lurching them all forward. "Shit - " Gideon mutters. "We might have to bail and run for it - " he jerks his head at a narrow alleyway.

Isn't he glad now he let Jude and Katie change from flipflops to sneakers? "May be better.", Jude agrees, "Do you have a second gun?", he asks hopefully, like that's a totally normal thing to have. Katie eyes them both with a steep frown. "You could just chuck a hand grenade at the lot.", she suggests rather sarcatically as they all pile out of the cab.

"Me and Apollo ain't allowed to have hand grenades on runs anymore, after wat appened last time," Gideon murmurs. "Let's go - " e adds, ten opens te door to te ar and bails out. "GO GO GO!"

Go where? Jude looks around in confusion, so this time it's Katie to take his hand and drag him along a short stretch down the side street and then into an alley way. "How do you know where to go?", he asks her and she frowns. "While you two were wetting yourselves, I looked up a local map.", she explains, waving her handheld cortex thingie, "You couldn't organize a piss-up in a brewery, how do you LIVE on these runs?", she eyeballs Gideon. Clearly something has snapped.

Gideon grins at Katie, suddenly, broad and amused. Being told off learly doesn't boter im - if anyting, e tins it's endearing. "Usually I don't ae Jude to mind," e teases tem bot. Te alley e's pointed tem toward is narrow. Te ars an't follow tem, and tere's a ladder tat on te side of one of te buildings.

"You'd need weapons, diguises, fake names and a safe place.", Katie lectures Gideon even as she starts climbing the ladder ahead of the boys. "I didn't take you for a crime lord - or queen.", Jude grumbles as he follows her and she rolls her eyes. "I just can't stand stupidity and ineptitude." Well, that's Jude's hopes for romance dashed.

"Yeah, and then the first time you get caught by the Alliance, you can't play dumb," Gideon argues with Katie. "Anyway - this was /supposed/ to be an easy job, nothin' that complicated," he calls, taking up the rear of the three of them.

They reach the top of the building. Gideon scans it. "You got any ideas, Katie?" he offers, his tone sincere, like he's willing to defer to her planning rather than his running on instinct. "Jude - while me and Katie plan, you stand at the top of the ladder and kick 'em in the face, k?"

Jude rolls his eyes, though he does look down to make sure that nobody is following them on foot. "Docks are that way.", Katie points and considers. There's a long building stretching along one alley, clearly a warehouse or something. "That one.", she decides, "We can't do that idiotic cortex thing of leaping over alleys. Also there'll be stairs to get down in case we're followed over the roofs." And off she goes, expecting them to follow her.

"C'mon," Gideon gestures for Jude. He takes up a jogging pace, as long as the two of them can also handle it. "See Jude? Real excitin' - " he tries to make light of it, a just a tiny bit, by reminding Jude that the element of danger is fun.

And then? A shuttle craft rises up from a nearby building and turns toward them. "Rotting pile of flesh," Gideon curses in Mandarin.

"Is that them?", Jude frowns when the shuttle rises. Katie comes to a halt as well and grabs him to push him behind a low concrete wall built around a watertank. At least they'd be shielded from immediate fire. "What now?"

Gideon draws a gun from a back holster, ducking down and scooting behind the low concrete wall. "We stand our ground!" he shouts at them over the sound of the shuttlecraft.

"That'll go well.", Katie mutters and sinks down against the wall with Jude, clearly rather scared now herself. Well, she has to be, with Gideon and his gun being their last line of defense.

The shuttle turns and its bay door opens. Gideon stands, his gun trained, ready to shoot. He'd have to take each person down with one bullet each, to give them even a chance to get out. But, rather than being swarmed by enemies, there's a voice broadcasting: "GET IN YOU IDIOTS."

Gideon pauses, then tilts his head. "Shiiiit. It's Leia."

"Oh good grief.", Jude groans with relief. "Come." He hops to his feet and pulls Katie along, so they can scramble aboard the shuttle.

Gideon follows them on. Leia's ship is sleek and modern, compared to Gideon's. She's definitely the brains in the outfit, the fixer when things go down. "I got your missing cargo," she shouts from the pilot's seat. "Get up here and give me a handle with the controls, one of you."

Gideon looks at Jude. Even in the middle of all this shit, when they're being potentially chased, he's still willing to let him take the helm. That, or, he doesn't much feel like being bossed around by his own sister.

Jude sees one last chance to redeem himself in Katie's disapproving eyes and goes to help Leia. She eyes him warily. "I can fly this.", he assures her rather optimistically as he takes the seat. Katie finds herself another seat and just facepalms.

Leia barks a number of commands at Jude - but, luckily, this ship is far more automated than the Desert Rose. All Jude really has to do is assist with stabilization, while Leia handles the more tricky maneuvering through the sky once she realizes his limited skill level.

Gideon sits down next to Katie, showing her where the restraints are, as he's figured out she's the sort who'd want to wear them. "Maaan, look at Jude fly," he tries, even now, to wingman.

"I got in touch with your friends," she explains. "They'll meet you - just wanted to keep 'em out of sight until this is done."

"Cool, thanks sis," Gideon pipes up from the back. "Hey - can you radio the hotel - " his eyes glimmer, like he knows he's screwing with her. "Jude's favorite t-shirt is there?"

"So what's happening now, we're flying back to Persephone in this?", Jude asks quickly, before Leia can fly into a rage about his t-shirt.

Leia snarls at the mention of a t-shirt, but she doesn't take her brother's bait. "Nope. We're just gonna rendezvous with Davenport, turn over the cargo, and then you all can go back to Persephone on your own," she explains.

"Well, that doesn't sound so bad.", Jude agrees. And he might get his t-shirt back. He heaves a sigh of relief and sinks back into his seat. All's well that ends well.
